Tell us a little about your current role and what you enjoy most about it?
My current role as EHS Director requires that I oversee the safety, health and environmental programs at facilities in the Engineered Systems Segment to ensure our workers have a safe and healthy work environment. I am also responsible for ensuring we have EHS compliance programs in place to make sure our company meets state, local and federal regulations. My Corporate role allows me to create and host training sessions for EHS representatives within Teledyne Technologies so that ongoing learning and networking leads to safer and more compliant operations.
One of the things I enjoy the most about my job is working with employees and the many dedicated EHS representatives throughout Teledyne to find ways to make a process or operation safer.
Who is someone that empowered you in your youth? How did they empower you?
One of the most influential people to inspire me in my career journey was a man named Wesley (Wes) Cleveland. Wes hired me in 2006 as a newcomer to the safety field and then worked with me over 14 years to develop my skills as an EHS professional. He encouraged me to always work hard, to set my goals sky-high and not to get discouraged when I encounter obstacles. A large part of my success can be attributed to Wes’ guidance and support – he was always there to listen when a problem arose, but gave me the opportunity to come up with solutions rather than just telling me what to do. I cannot overemphasize the positive impact he has made in my life, both professionally and personally, and I am thankful he took the time to encourage and mentor me.
