Tell us a little about your current role and what you enjoy most about it?
As the Group Controller for the Marine US segment, I am responsible for overseeing and directing my division’s financial goals. This involves among other activities: financial planning and analysis, ensuring compliance while monitoring controls to achieve financial stewardship, and partnering with fellow leaders within my business unit to carry out strategic objectives. The most enjoyable part of my role is being able to work alongside talented individuals we have at Teledyne as well as seeing how the innovative technology we create translates into numbers on our financial statements.
Is there a specific black role model from history who inspires you? What about a black person from today?
David Goggins is an individual that I find inspiration from whom. With numerous accomplishments in the U.S. Armed Forces including being the 36th African American Navy Seal, David’s mastery of the human mind shows us that limitations are in large extent determined by what we tell ourselves. Along with several military awards, David is considered one of the best ultra-endurance athletes in the world.
