Steve Kuffner Appointed President of Teledyne Solutions
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (Oct. 3, 2002)-The Board of Directors of Teledyne Solutions, Inc., announced today that Stephen J. Kuffner has been appointed president of Teledyne Solutions, Inc.
Teledyne Solutions, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Teledyne Brown Engineering, was established in April 2000 to become Teledyne's primary provider of systems engineering and technical assistance (SETA) services to the U.S. Army's Space and Missile Defense Command (SMDC). Kuffner was then appointed Vice President of Operations for Teledyne Solutions and was named interim president in February of this year when former president Dr. Nicholas Passino retired.
Kuffner joined Teledyne Brown Engineering in January 2000 as Business Director of the company's SETA contract with SMDC.
"Steve's leadership of Teledyne Solutions during the interim period has been superior," said Dr. Robert Mehrabian, chairman and chief executive officer of Teledyne Technologies. "We are confident he will continue to provide the same leadership and managerial skills as we grow our business in and beyond Huntsville."
A retired Army colonel, Kuffner was Project Manager for the Army's Patriot Missile program (now known as Lower Tier Project Office) for four years prior to joining Teledyne Brown. As Project Manager, he was responsible for all development, production and fielding aspects of the Patriot and PAC-3 (Patriot Advanced Capability-3) programs.
"I'm excited that our Board of Directors has given me the opportunity to lead this dynamic company into the future," Kuffner said. "One of our most important goals is to continue to provide our customers with a level of excellent support like that they have grown to expect from the outstanding professionals at Teledyne Solutions."
A 1973 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Kuffner has also earned two masters degrees: one in chemical engineering from the University of Washington, and a second in national security and strategic studies from the Naval War College.
Kuffner and his wife, Barbara, have two sons. Christopher, 24, is a recent graduate of Auburn University, and Michael, 20, is a student at the University of Alabama.
