Teledyne Brown Honored By Parent Initiative Group
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (May 17, 2006) - Teledyne Brown Engineering, Inc. (TBE) announced today that the company was recognized by Second Mile Development, Inc., a non-profit organization working with at- risk schools in Huntsville, for its support of the group's Parent Initiative project.
Working with Second Mile, Teledyne Brown developed a CD the group could use to market its Parent Parties product to schools and organizations. The concept is a parent involvement program that educates and provides a method for parents to take part in their children's education. The CD has already been applauded by the Alabama Council of PTAs.
Several Teledyne Brown employees who completed the work on a volunteer basis were honored today at a luncheon.
"I would like to thank Second Mile Development for this recognition," said Jim Link, president, Teledyne Brown Engineering. "It belongs to our employees who worked on their own time to assist Second Mile with this project. We hope it will be an effective tool in reaching parents in at risk schools."
Second Mile developed the Parent Parties concept about five years ago. The parties use games and a festive atmosphere to educate parents about their children and school activities.
