Thomas Longstreth Joins Teledyne Brown Engineering
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (Feb. 28, 2001)-Teledyne Brown Engineering announced today that Thomas K. Longstreth has joined the company as Vice President for Strategic Planning and Governmental Affairs.
Longstreth comes to Teledyne Brown after more than a decade of service as a senior-level official and analyst with the Department of Defense. Most recently, Longstreth served as Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Readiness and Training in the Office the Secretary of Defense, a position he held for more than two years. In that capacity, Longstreth was a key advisor to the Secretary of Defense and other senior defense officials on the readiness and training of U.S. military forces.
Longstreth will be responsible for strategic planning of corporate initiatives, identifying new global business opportunities for Teledyne Brown Engineering, and will serve as a senior to Teledyne Brown Engineering President Richard A. (Dick) Holloway.

Longstreth's previous responsibilities in the Office of the Secretary of Defense include: Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for European and NATO Affairs, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Strategy and Requirements. During his tenure, he directed task forces for the Secretary of Defense on Iraq, Bosnia and Somalia. He also worked on the Joint Staff as a Defense Strategy Planner and Policy Analyst, where he worked directly for then-Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Colin Powell.
Mr. Longstreth has been awarded both the Secretary of Defense Medal for Distinguished Public Service and the Secretary of Defense Medal for Outstanding Public Service, the two highest honors bestowed upon civilians by the Secretary of Defense.
Longstreth graduated from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn., in 1979 with a degree in history. In 1984, he completed the masters degree program in Defense Analysis and Security Policy Studies at George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
Longstreth is a native of Hudson, Ohio, and will maintain an office at Teledyne Brown's Arlington, Va., offices.
